Launching an app is one thing; making it visible to others is a different challenge!

As many of you know, I've been developing Stock Analyzer since January this year. Like many other Indie devs, I've been looking forward to today's Apple event and submitting a significant new update containing iOS 16-specific features.

While I could promote RocketSim through my Twitter and SwiftLee channels, I can't do the same with Stock Analyzer since it's not a developer-only tool. The target audience is not explicitly following me, so I need new ways to promote and get the app off the ground.

This SwiftLee Weekly focuses on precisely that part: promoting your apps. Whether it's an Indie app or an app from your day-to-day job: the curated articles in this newsletter will apply to you.

In addition to that, you'll also have the chance to win a free App Store Optimization report done by asoadvice.com in this month's SwiftLee Giveaway!

THIS WEEK'S BLOG POST

I'm excited to share another guest article written by Dani. This time, he explores accessibility in SwiftUI from a UIKit development perspective. If you're transitioning your accessibility knowledge to SwiftUI, this article is worth a read.

MARKETING

While Rene Ritchie published this article in 2018, I still think it’s highly valuable. I talk a lot about the do’s in this newsletter, but there are definitely a few don’ts as well that lower the chances of your app being covered in a press article. Looking for a more recent article? Oliver Haslam wrote an article titled Some great indy apps go unnoticed. Devs, here's how to tell me about your work!
Note: these aren’t just WWDC videos! Apple publishes tech talks throughout the year, and quite a few focus on App Store distribution and marketing. You’ll learn about optimizations and features like custom offer codes or custom product pages. Or how about “Designing for Subscription Success”? There’s a lot to go through here!
If there’s someone to follow in regards to marketing your app, it must be Filip Nemecek. He even developed ImpressKit to help you create an accessible page for your app to share with journalists. In this article, you’ll get a step-by-step guide to getting press coverage.
An often asked question is how to get your app featured in the App Store. If you’ve ever been in contact with developer evangelists at Apple, you know they’ll suggest you fill in this form. It’s the bare minimum you should do for every major update you plan to submit to the App Store.

OPTIMIZATION

I’m not sure about you, but I would often not download an app if I saw a bad rating. On the other hand, a 4+ rating will make the choice of downloading easier. In this article, you’ll learn how WeTransfer gained 11K positive ratings in three months.
There are never enough tips to gain when doing ASO, so while you’re at it: take these tips from Niels Mouthaan, who also runs asoadvice.com, if you need more help.
Ariel From Appfigures shares an App Store Optimization checklist for you to go through. Improving your app’s ASO will increase App Store discoverability, letting you gain more customers.
